Job Description:

As a crucial part of the Leadership Team, the Vice President of Operations is responsible for managing all daily operations of the company and to assist the senior leadership in the successful growth and servicing of the company’s policyholders by performing the following duties.

Your Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management to the customer service, underwriting, and systems departments including guidance on best practices and decision making on any strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for achieving business goals and objectives including the oversight of any vendor relationships providing operational functions including negotiations of contracts, pricing, and services provided to the organization.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all insurance operational processes both internal and external and whether performed by in house staff, an affiliate or vendor.
  • Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operational statistics of the company.
  • Participates with executive team on the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Spearheads the development and implementation plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel to support the functions of the customer service, underwriting and systems departments.
  • Motivates and leads a high-performance management team of insurance professionals.
  • Fosters a success-oriented and accountable environment within the company.
  • Represents the company with clients, agents, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Operations Departments of a Property and Casualty insurance company, including but not limited to, customer service, underwriting and systems.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university required.
  • Experience - 8-10 years related experience with a Property & Casualty Insurance Company; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Homeowners, Commercial Property Lines experience is a must.
  • Licenses/Designations - Master’s degree or CPCU preferred, licensed 2-20 agent is a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and proficiency with policy management systems.
  • Excellent proficiency in administration and management.
  • Ability to develop, management and motivate an effective team.
  • Must have strong planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, regulatory or governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Solid understanding of economics, accounting and business processes to improve business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing to all levels; entry level employee to Board Members.
  • Dependability and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to act with Integrity.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands are classified as Light.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; and talk or hear.
