Job Description:

As a crucial part of the Executive Team, the Vice President of Capital & Reinsurance Strategies is responsible for and has the authority to make all decisions on risk management issues that directly impact the strategic direction of the company by performing the following duties.

Your Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage all facets of catastrophe risk process.
  • Responsible for catastrophe modeling and statistical analysis.
  • Devise systems and processes to monitor validity of risk modeling outputs.
  • Distribute exposure and capacity of exposure by zone or region.
  • Develop proprietary risk measurement tools.
  • Design proprietary profitability and capital allocation measurement tools.
  • Responsible for strategic measurement and maintenance of overall corporate risk.
  • Manage and coordinate corporate reinsurance programs.
  • Responsible for loss mitigation strategy.
  • Create presentations.
  • Responsible for negotiations and authorizations.
  • Manage and provide support for allocations to lines, states, and regions.
  • Responsible for schedule F quarterly and annual statement.
  • Manage communications relating to risk management and pricing with Board of Directors, Rating Agencies, and Regulatory Authorities.
  • Manage and coordinate reinsurance audits.
  • Strategically plan, coordinate, and execute corporate capital strategies.
  • Some travel is required.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 to 15 years property catastrophe insurance related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of risk management tools, including RMS, AIR and KCC.
  • Ability to manage large workloads within established deadlines.
  • Broad technical and computer skills for the office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these Corporate Risk. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of catastrophe modeling software, word processing software, spreadsheet software, internet software, project management software, database software, and contact management systems.
