Job Description:

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements on both the GAAP and Statutory basis of accounting. This individual will also assist in the annual audit and budgeting process. These duties involve the following key areas: premiums, losses, reinsurance, investments, income taxes, budgets, and analytics. The successful candidate will take ownership of their processes and make recommendations for process improvements.

Your Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain appropriate supporting workpapers that provide strong audit evidence.
  • Prepare elimination and consolidation journal entries.
  • Prepare tax provisions for federal and state taxes.
  • Assist in the preparation of company budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare and post accounting related entries to the general ledger.
  • Reconcile key general ledger accounts.
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanation of transactions.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports to various regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in a wide variety of special projects.
  • Follow company established accounting processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • Experience - 3-5 years corporate or public accounting experience, insurance industry required.
  • Licenses/Designations - CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

  • Computer Applications – Proficiency with general ledger systems and Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word. Intermediate or better skill level in Excel is a must
