Job Description:

• Responsible for moderate to serious complexity commercial claims with little to no direction and oversight. Makes decisions within delegated authority and recommends settlement values in the disposition of claims.
• Reviews and determines proper policy coverages and resolves claims per company guidelines.
• Opens, closes, and adjusts reserves in accordance with company practices.
• Maintains current knowledge of insurance and applicable product/services; court decisions which may impact the claims decisions.
• Maintains current knowledge of local industry repair procedures and local market pricing.
• Submits reports, reinsurance notifications and other information to claims leadership.
• Capabilities to identify fraud and recovery opportunities.
• Delivers a positive customer service experience in all internal and external interactions.
• May assist with training or presentations as assigned.
• Handle claims from inception through resolution. Appropriately investigates loss circumstances, accurately applies coverage and works within assigned authority levels.
• Engage and monitor the work of outside vendors contributing to the claims adjustment process as needed.
• Be adept in and use property and casualty expertise and industry knowledge to recommend and implement change when needed.
• Develop and employ creative resolution strategies.
• Ensure compliance of all statutory regulations and unfair Claim Practice Acts.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university.
• 1-3 years of Florida commercial property and casualty claims processing experience.
• 5-20 or 6-20 Florida Adjuster’s license in good standing.
• Working knowledge with Microsoft Office products required (specifically Word, Excel. and Outlook).
• Functional knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, and techniques, to include but not limited to coverage issues, and product line knowledge.
• Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Effectively communicate through strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Possess proven negotiation skills.
• Xactimate estimating software experience highly preferred.
• Demonstrated strong analytical, decision making and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interact with TPA partners, attorneys, and legal partners, as well as our customers.
• Able to work extended hours due to weather-related events.

Physical Demands:

• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; and talk or hear.
• The employee is required to stand; walk safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaced; and reach with hands and arms.
• Must have sufficient vision to navigate required computer programs.
• Must have the ability to handle stressful deadlines.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
