Job Description:

The Business Analyst is responsible for assisting with and conducting organizational studies and evaluations; assist with designing systems and procedures; conducting work simplifications and measurement studies; assisting with the preparation of operations and procedures manuals relating to insurance operations and efficiencies; and responsible for certain reporting requirements by performing the following duties.

Your Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Implement the property insurance policy and claims systems.
  • Participate and collaborate in process improvements, technology projects, and efforts to improve capabilities.
  • Analyze data for anomalies, trends and opportunities for improvement and report on same.
  • Assist with performing impact analyses for all operations improvements.
  • Assist in the development of solutions for internal and external insurance clients by describing requirements in a work-flowchart and diagram; studying system capabilities; analyzing alternative solutions; preparing system specifications.
  • Verify results by completing tests related to various business operations impacting the insurance product, profitability and compliance and report on same.
  • Provide support to outside insurance clients and vendors as directed.
  • Assist in systems maintenance by researching, identifying and resolving problems; assist in maintaining system integrity and security.
  • Assist in preparation of reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information for a variety of clients, including insurance regulators and business partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university required.
  • Experience - Two to four years experience in the insurance industry required; experience in property and casualty insurance preferred.
  • Software - Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, project management software, database software, and contact management systems is required.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in Excel, Access and SQL required.
  • Knowledge of other Microsoft programs a plus.
  • Must have strong planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulated industries.
  • Experience working with and querying databases.
  • Strong time management skills.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands are classified as Light.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to stand; walk safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaced; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must have the ability to handle stressful deadlines.
  • Must have sufficient vision to navigate required computer programs.
